BEING AN IKMI KRAV MAGA TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR
Professional Profile Description
The IKMI Krav Maga Instructor is both a practical and theoretical trainer, capable of clearly presenting and demonstrating techniques in a way that is appropriate to the students’ level of learning.
The training programme is designed to provide participants with the essential skills required to perform the duties of a Krav Maga Instructor, while also developing the professional competencies necessary for the role of trainer that they will undertake within IKMI.
The role of a trainer is particularly important and delicate, given the ethical and professional responsibility involved in conveying the correct message regarding the legitimate use of techniques and in providing appropriate theoretical knowledge. The aim is to enable students to act in complete safety and in full compliance with the law.
Such safety conditions require well-balanced technical, physical and psychological preparation. For this reason, the training programme also includes specific modules dedicated to effective communication techniques for instructors and to stress management techniques.
The task of IKMI Technical Instructors is to guide students towards achieving full technical maturity. We also consider continuous professional development essential in order to constantly improve the quality of the training we provide. For this purpose, throughout the sporting season, specialised courses are organised to complement the long-term training of our instructors, with in-depth focus on topics such as: defence against attacks involving edged weapons, stick techniques, disarming techniques in situations involving firearm threats, specific female self-defence techniques, intervention techniques in confined spaces, third-party protection techniques, and more.
We firmly believe that instructors must be able to manage their courses effectively through a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the subject. Our goal is to train well-rounded Technical Instructors. For many years, we have promoted specific courses for all IKMI members in order to ensure their continuous technical and cultural development.
A good instructor is someone who is willing to question themselves, who is never satisfied with what they already know, and who is constantly motivated to seek new technical and cultural knowledge that can improve their work, regardless of the level they have already achieved.
